2 Boys 1 Can

Induction - 2 Boys 1 Can Evaluation: Overall, I think our short film was good. During the making of this short film we focused on the shots and how each one can join nicely together, however, with some continuity errors, which we did really well and managed to do this and make it look well made. I think our sound effects/ music worked really well with our shots and the slow-Mo that we had put in when he opens the can. The sound effects of the heartbeat, worked nicely with the opening of the can as it made it become tenser as the heartbeats speed up. These heartbeat sound effects represented Brandon’s heart as he was scared when Joel opened the can when Keith was there. During the making of this short film we had planned to do so many different shots and angels to where they will be shot from, and the turn out of all these angels and shots put together, looks professional! Also, another thing that went really well is that we had to film it in two days. This was a bit hard at first because we realised the boys had to look the exact same as they did the first day of filming. We had some troubles with this because Joel had gotten a haircut in between these filming days. He also came in wearing a different top which was a struggle because day 1 of filming he was wearing a long sleeve black and white stripy top, Day 2 he wore a short sleeve plain white top. We had done so many shots which Joel’s stripy top so on day 2 we had to be careful filming Joel as he was wearing a different top. We managed this just by doing hand shots and not showing any of his body. This did work okay however there was a problem with the footage, When Joel went to grab the Can, you did see in the shot that Joel was not wearing a long sleeve top. But overall it worked great! I think we could improve this little continuity error next time by making Joel wear the same clothes and cut his hair after the filming not in the middle. Also, we had another little continuity error with Brandon’s sweat scene. Brandon was sweat intensely when he walked through the door but the next scene him sitting with Joel and about to open the can all his sweat had gone and his face was dry. Now, you could say that he had wiped it of when he sat down but it didn’t make any sense that it just disappeared and his face was dry. Next time we could think more carefully on the little details and how we can make sure that everything makes sense and in the right order. Another thing we could remember to do next time is make sure the shot has nothing in it that shouldn’t be there. During filming and after we had already done some of the takes in that scene we realised that the camera bag was in the background of the shot. We had to redo these scenes we had already done and take the camera bag out of the frame. Next time we will look more in detail about the background and not just at the cast and where they are in the frame.
